(2014), “e Journal Impact Factor provides an important measure of
a journal’s contribution to scholarly communication, and its distor-
tion by an excessive concentration of citations is a serious matter.”
Self- citing is when editors coerce authors into citing their journal to
inflate citations. e JCR thus includes an indicator for journal cita-
