often a coach

Introduction
Academic journal editors wear many hats: manuscript screener, review
process manager, board developer, promoter, strategist, and coach,
among others. Of all the hats I wore as editor- in- chief of the Journal
of Information Technology Case and Application Research (JITCAR),
the one that fit the best was my coaching hat. My team consisted of
JITCAR’s editorial board, our reviewers, and our authors. Our objec-
tive: to produce the best journal possible. As a coach, I focused on
being a motivator, coordinator, and developer of talent. is chapter
reviews and recounts the benefits, pleasures, and rewards associated
with this editorial role.
When I was first asked to be the editor- in- ch
