• Each editorial decision is no more than our best professional judg-
ment. Can EICs, SEs, AEs, and reviewers make bad deci-
sions? Certainly they can and do in both directions, that is,
accepting papers that should be rejected and rejecting papers
that should be accepted. As EIC, all I can ask from the review
team are best professional judgments. I may not personally
agree with the outcome, but if I don’t respect the efforts and
recommendations, how many members of the team will con-
tinue to find participation in the review process a worthwhile
use of their time?
