So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Lesson C: Create an Apple
One thing that I stress in any Illustrator class I teach is you do not need to know how to draw. We create with basic shapes. You will see the magic happen once we start creating. Start a New document and lets begin.
Drawing an Oval
- 1 Draw an oval using the Ellipse tool (L). Select it with the Selection tool (V).
- 2 Duplicate the shape using Option + click (Mac)/ Alt + click (PC) and drag it.
- 3 Select the first oval and open the Properties panel. Rotate the shape 5 degrees. Select the other shape and rotate it -5 degrees.

- 4 Select both ovals with the Selection tool (V).
