Historically, the protocol for HTTPS is referred to as SSL, even though the actual protocol that's used today is mostly TLS. SSL is considered not safe to use anymore. Even the earlier versions of TLS, namely TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1, are currently not recommended for use. Amazon Linux 2 supports TLS 1.2, which is why we used it within this recipe.
