When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Testing Mosquitto
Let's see whether everything works as expected. Open PowerShell on Windows/Terminal on macOS. Follow these steps to test Mosquitto:
- Enter mosquitto_sub -t "/test" to subscribe to the /test topic (and therefore get notified whenever there is a new message in the channel).
- Now, open another PowerShell/Terminal window, and send a message to this channel by running this code:
mosquitto_pub -t "/test" -m "Hello!"
The -t stands for topic, and the -m for message. So, if you were to put it in a sentence, it would mean: Publish the «Hello» message to the «/test» topic.
In the other PowerShell/Terminal window, you should now see the message: "Hello!". Hooray, our Mosquitto installation has worked!
