Since a laser cutter is a computer-controlled machine, you need to use 2D vector software to create the design of your pieces. To be able to use the 2D vector design software, however, you will need to learn how to use it. Due to the scope of this book, it is not possible to explain in detail how to use design software but following are some commonly used software programs and links with useful information on how to get you started if you are not familiar with them.
