Microservices are increasingly dynamic and widely dispersed. Thus, for leveraging microservices and for enabling service discovery (static as well as automated), we need a centralized service registry/repository mechanism in place. The service registry is designed to keep track of the registered microservice instances in order to give correct information about the services and their latest locations.
