So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Resource archetypes
Each service provided by the API is an archetype, and they indicate the structures and behaviors of REST API designs. Resource modelling should start with a few fundamental resource archetypes, and usually, the REST API is composed of four unique archetypes, as follows:
- Document: The document is the base for a resource representation with a field and link-based structure. In the following, each sample URI represents unique document resources, and the first one is also called the doc-root or parent resource ( the API endpoint):
