I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Drawbacks of Spring Boot
While Spring has many advantages, we should also be aware of its drawbacks:
- Frequent breaking changes (by introducing new capabilities and defect fixes) between versions
- May create an obligation to use latest versions
- Too much information and documentation may be overkill
- Vast framework finding specifics may be hard for few (may affect rapid prototyping)
The author's choice for all of the code in this book is also Spring Boot, and from examples in Chapter 2, Design Strategy, Guidelines, and Best Practices, and Chapter 3, Essential RESTful API patterns, we've seen how easy it was to bring up RESTful APIs with Spring Boot.
