So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
API test cases
To begin with, let's say that test cases for APIs need to have a few parameters or placeholders, such as input parameters, expected results, the time taken to receive a response (from the API), parsing input, error handling, and response formats so that test results of an API are ascertained and certified.
Before we move on to a few aspects of test case preparation, let's get a glimpse of the possible types of bug that API tests help us to detect:
- Mishandled errors or disgraceful error conditions by the API
- Any unused flags
- Missing or duplicate functionality
- Multi-threading issues
- Incorrect handling of valid argument values
- Validation issues such as schema validations or structure issues
