10.3.3 Electrical Properties
The electric conductivity of p-PODA at room tem-
perature is 10

. This corresponds to com-
mon insulating polymers in the glassy state. However,
above 440 K, ionic conduction is observed [44]. Elec-
trically conductive PODAs can be obtained by doping
with electron donors or electron acceptors. Some vari-
eties of PODA are semiconductors and exhibit pho-
toconductive properties. Therefore, they are used in
electrical applications.
10.3.4 Optical Properties
10.3.4.1 Photoluminescence
The photoluminescence of soluble 1,3-bis(phenyl-
1,3,4-oxadiazole)s with polar groups in the main chain
such as −−NO
2
