Many attempts have been made to increase the

rigidity of PPE molding compositions by admixing

reinforcing ﬁbers composed of inorganic or organic

material in the resin. Already by 1974, glass ﬁbers

had been suggested as reinforcing material [65,66].

In order to improve the ﬁber-matrix adhesion in

the composition, unsized ﬁbers with siloxanes that

contain the Si−−H bond have been reported [67].

The treatment of the ﬁbers with vinylsilanes or γ -

glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilanes is advantageous to

improve the adhesion [68].
