HoloLens has been designed as a hands-free head mounted device with voice as one of the key input mechanisms to accept commands from any user. The HoloLens device has a great support for Voice Commands using a set of microphones. The microphone array consists of four different microphones that take commands via voice control.
This array of microphones also helps in noise compression and echo cancellation from the real environment. The need for a microphone array is to clearly distinguish and recognize user Voice Commands over other environmental noises.
The HoloLens microphone array also uses beamforming to get a good, amplified noise and echo-free speech signal from the HoloLens for the user who is wearing it.
