Each polygon consists of two surfaces, a front surface and a back surface. The front surface is called Surface Normal and is usually represented with an arrow coming out at a 90 degree angle from the surface. It's recommended to have the front surface toward the camera, as usually we apply a single-sided Shader and that gets applied only on the front surface. This also reduces the render time.

To reverse the direction of a model's Surface Normals, select the object (or individual faces), press the Shift Key | right-click | Face Normal | Reverse Normal.
