When prompted, select the Basic Setup, rather than the Premium Setup.
The RealOne Player is much less annoying than it used to be, but it can still
be a little bit annoying.
Once again, thanks to Real for making both the streaming client and server avail-
able for free, and for making them available on such a wide variety of platforms.
As much as I complain about the various ads and pitches, I’m thrilled that it’s
available at all. I evaluated many different video streaming solutions for this
project, and the Real solution was clearly superior.
After you finish the install, you’ll still have to manually turn off the Message
Center before you’re done with Real’s annoyances. (Maybe it would just be
easier to buy the software!)
2. Establish the connection
Now that the RealOne Player is up and running, you’re ready to connect to
your video feed. From the File menu, click Open. In the Open field, type
rtsp://server_ip/broadcast/stream_name. My server’s private IP address
is 192.168.1.204, and I named the stream stream.rm, so I typed the URL
rtsp://192.168.1.204/broadcast/stream.rm. Click OK. After a few seconds,
RealOne will display the live video feed, as shown in Figure 12-17. Easy!
