Chapter 5, Remotely Control Your Computer
Player hardly suffices as controlling by remote—you’re going to want to do
much more. Configure the Play button according to the following instruc-
tions.
1. Right-click the MediaPlayer top-level group and select Add
Command.
2. Press F2 to rename the new command Play.
3. Select the Command tab from the right-hand properties sheet.
4. Start Media Player. You’ll be using it to teach Girder exactly what to do
when you press the Play button on the remote.
5. Return to Girder and click the Capture button from the Command
tab.
6. Click Start Capture from the System Wide Capturing dialog. You’ll see
messages appear in the list whenever you click anything.
7. Arrange the windows so you can
see Media Player and the System
Wide Capturing dialog at the
same time.
8. Click the Play button in Media
Player and watch the System
Wide Capturing dialog for
entries that appear to be associ-
ated with the Play button. Figure
5-11 shows the highlighted
captured event. The SmartFill
option tells Girder to attempt
to automatically populate the
application target information.
9. Select the correct message and click the Apply button.
10. Click OK to exit the System Wide Capturing dialog.
11. Test the command by right-clicking the Play command and selecting
Test Comma ...
