I could use lots of quotes before beginning a project: “Failing to plan means planning to fail” or “You'll never have to recover from a fast start” are two that come immediately to mind. You'll hear me repeat this over and over again throughout this book—the earlier you think about the steps of the project and prepare for them, the better off you will be. This starts way back at the beginning, even before you've committed to do an ERP or CRM implementation. If you can home in on what you want to do and who's going to do it, you can get work done before the project starts, and this can save you a considerable amount of money in the long-term.
