So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Overflow handling
When an out-of-range value is stored in the numeric type column in MySQL, the value stored depends on the MySQL mode:
- If strict mode is enabled, MySQL will not accept the value and throw an error. The insert operation fails.
- If restrictive modes are enabled, the value is clipped by MySQL to an appropriate value, and that is what is stored in the column.
