5 Time
5.1 Introduction
Time is one of the parameters in equations relating to a.c. voltages
which will be discussed in Chapter 6.
By definition an alternating voltage changes from one level to
another level in a given time, and often it is necessary to calculate
this time interval. The time can be long in counter circuits, for
example, but in most circuits it is very short, where a second is
considered to be a very long time! The unit of time is the second, s,
and the aim is to show the submultiples used and to show the
conversion of one unit into another.
5.2 Units used
The main units are the following:
1 The second, s
2 The millisecond,
