Oscillator circuits generate alternating voltages. Circuits such as the
Hartley (Figure 17.1) and the Colpitts (Figure 17.2) generate
sinusoidal waveforms. Other circuits, such as the R-C phase shift
oscillator, the Wien bridge oscillator and the twin-T oscillator, also
generate sine waves.
