It’s a poor workman who blames his tools, so the saying goes. The complexity of organisations today makes it easier than ever to pin the blame on someone or something other than yourself. You can choose to put the blame on other departments, the IT system, a new process, an old procedure, or an unco-operative management team and leave yourself free of the responsibility for things not working out as planned. Scapegoats are also very easy to find. Pick on the administrator, the personnel officer, the computer analyst, or whoever it is that usually picks up the blame when things aren’t going so well.???
