I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Manual Kerning
Manual kerning means to adjust the space between two characters, and it’s the most important letterspacing feature because it is the only one dependent on your eyes. This is what you’ll use to fine-tune your text after all the other options have been adjusted.
When you use the keyboard shortcut to kern, InDesign applies the amount you have set in the preferences pane you changed earlier. That is, if you put the insertion point between two characters and use the keyboard shortcut Option LeftArrow, each tap of the left arrow removes 5/1000 of an em. Option RightArrow increases the space 5/1000 of an em.
Hold down the Command key in addition to the Option and arrow keys and you decrease or increase the amount by five. That is, Command ...
