How do you do it?

To baseline shift, check your manual. All page layout applications can shift the baseline, as well as many word processors. The amount of baseline shift is determined by your preferences, which you can change. Here are a couple of keyboard shortcuts for Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress.

First select the character(s). Then:

• Mac InDesign:

  to move up	Shift Option ↑ (UpArrow)
  to move down	Shift Option ↓ (DownArrow)
  Add the Command key to increase by 5 times the increment set in your preferences.

• Windows InDesign:

  to move up	Shift Alt ↑ (UpArrow)
  to move down	Shift Alt ↓ (DownArrow)
  Add the Control key to increase by 5 times the increment set in your preferences.

• Mac QuarkXPress:

  to move up	Command Option Shift +
  to move down	Command Option Shift ...
