The company developed experience curves for the one
hundred eighty manufacturing lines across the sixty factories
globally. Since those lines were covering five different technolo-
gies, the company started to compare curves by technologies
and was quickly able to define targets by line by factory, and
not only for the next budgeting cycle, but for the long term. The
first benefit of this simple, aligned approach was the clarity of
dialogue between senior executives and the ability to set real
targets versus relevant comparisons, as well as to learn and share
