Chapter 22. Exploring Relational Database Design and Implementation

You were introduced to a few of the elements of relational database design when you created the Personnel Actions table and joined it with the Employees table of the Northwind Traders database in Chapter 10, "Creating Multitable and Crosstab Queries." Chapter 20, "Using Access with Microsoft Excel," gave you a bit more insight into how to create a relational database from information contained in a worksheet. However, when you're presented with the challenge of designing a database from ground zero—especially a complex or potentially complex database—you need to understand the theory of relational database design and its terminology.
