EVALUATION TOOLS, STRATEGIES, AND REPORTS

Evaluation tools are many and varied. They can be quantitative (relying on statistics and data) or qualitative (assessing the experience and feelings of the people who received the agency’s services). Often agencies will use a combination of both quantitative measures and qualitative assessments when undertaking an evaluation of programs. Among the many assessment tools at your agency’s disposal are observation, questionnaires, surveys, focus groups, one-on-one interviews, pretests and posttests, and intake and exit interviews. Decisions regarding what evaluation tools to use are based on the complexity and comprehensiveness of the program, the information being sought, and the costs involved.
