WHY YOU NEED A FUTURE FUNDING PLAN

There will be no sequel for your agency and its programs unless it has a plan in place for securing funding in the future. In the proposal narrative, describe the strategy your agency will undertake to secure this funding. This need not be a lengthy section. Returning to our hypothetical five-page proposal, one or two paragraphs will suffice.
The first rule in preparing for the sequel is never, ever to assume that a grantmaker will renew a grant indefinitely. Nonprofit agencies should always prepare for the day when a funder, no matter how supportive and generous, ceases its support. There are many valid reasons why grantmakers will stop funding a particular agency at some point.
