It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Introduction to Stepper Motors A stepper motor is an electromechanical device which
converts electrical pulses into discrete mechanical movements. When electrical pulses are
applied to it, the shaft of the motor rotates in steps and this type of movement gives the motor
its name.
