Name
source environment = filename — [global]
Synopsis
Allowable values: name of file
Default: NULL
Causes Samba to read a list of environment variables from a file upon startup. This can be useful when setting up Samba in a clustered environment. The filename can begin with a “|” (pipe) character, in which case it causes Samba to run the file as a command to obtain the variables.
The file must be owned by root and must not be
world-writable. If the filename begins with a
“|” character, it must point to a
command that is neither world-writable nor resides in a
world-writable directory.
The data should be in the form of lines such as
SAMBA_NETBIOS_NAME=myhostname. This value
will then be available in the smb.conf files as
%$SAMBA_NETBIOS_NAME.
