6.3.1. Overview of the direct-estimation method

Although the albedo-estimation method based on the inversion of the bidirectional reflectance model has clear and explicit physical significance, the algorithm processing flow is quite complicated, and it requires a large amount of calculations. In addition, the accuracy of the final albedo products depends on the performance of all of these processes. The uncertainties associated with each procedure may be canceled out, but they are also likely to accumulate.
