Abstract

As the largest terrestrial ecosystem on Earth, forests are affected by climate change and human activities. In turn, forests influence the climate at local, regional, and global scales through physical, chemical, and biological processes. Forest cover change and its climatic effects are of considerable interest in land cover and land-use change studies. Remote sensing is a powerful tool used for monitoring forest cover change as it provides abundant spatial and temporal information.
