Chapter 8. Ideal Technology
Technology is the foundation of a game. Some game developers have used technological breakthroughs in areas such as graphics and user interface as marketing bait, and have been very successful at it. However, to create a genuinely good game, the development team marries the design to the technology so that the two work together as an efficient machine. We can see examples of this in LucasArts games such as The Dig, whose design uses the iMUSE system to determine how the music will play. Check out Chapter 7, “Ideal Production,” for more details.
