The current comfortable FER primarily reflect short-term capital flow from the
FIIs, which can vanish as easily as they appeared. These are not money flow; their
sudden departure to greener pastures has wrecked havoc on many Third-World
economies. Non-economic developments, political instability, and communal
frenzy together contributed to slowing down the pace of economic growth. The
government should tackle the situation firmly, for which it requires political will.
In substance what has been achieved so far is impressive, but is not very
