A Review of the Functioning of UNCTAD
About eight conferences have been held so far under the auspices of UNCTAD.
Given the important role of primary commodities and natural resources in the
external sectors of the developing countries, the initial focus of UNCTAD was
on commodity policy and eorts to stabilise and expand the export earnings
of these countries. In the process, UNCTAD adopted a group approach to
