9. India’s share of the world exports is a meagre 0.7 per cent and its share of trade
in the world services is even less. Hence, it does not command any bargaining
strength in the WTO-level negotiations.
Most of these problems are of our own making and will have to be resolved
with our own internal eorts. At the WTO’s negotiating table, we can only raise
issues that are applicable to global trade and which do not comply with its given
provisions and conditionalities. Box20.2 vividly explains in points the issues that
are to be raised.
