SIX Aperture

 

THE WORD APERTURE derives from the Latin word apertura. Along with shutter speed and ISO, they form the three major components in photography often referred to as the ‘Exposure Triangle’. The aperture controls the amount of light entering the camera and is the primary factor that determines the overall appearance of the photograph. Selecting a small aperture increases the depth of field, or the degree of sharpness in the image, while shooting wide open creates very shallow depth of field, isolating the subject from the background. Understanding how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work together is fundamental to creating great photographs.
