ASUCCESSFUL photograph is defined by the amalgamation of a number of key components, but at the forefront of these is light. The word photography itself means ‘painting with light’. Even when all of the other elements are in place, without light it amounts to little. Light is the very essence of photography and the accomplishment of any photographer, professional or amateur, is based on his or her understanding of how light works. As a photographer, you have to learn how to make the best of it in any given situation and turn it to your advantage.
