15.1 INTRODUCTION

The values stored in the variables in structured programming languages are easily accessed by any function in

the program. For example, in the C language the structure members can be easily accessed from outside the

structure. All the members of the structure are public. Therefore, it is not possible in a structure to protect

data values stored in the variables or hide them. This is discussed in the previous section. The main idea of

an object-oriented programming language is to bind data and its associated functions together in a class.
