Deleting Components
Deleting a component is completely different from exploding a component, as described in the previous section. Though exploding a component sounds somewhat violent, deleting a component has more serious consequences. When you delete a component, you remove the component from the list of components in the Components window, and you remove all the instances of that component from your drawing. Suppose you have a picket fence that's made up of 12 fence board components. If you delete the fence board component from the Components window, all 12 fence boards disappear, too. To delete a component, open the Components window (Window → Component). Then right-click the component you want to delete, and choose Delete from the shortcut menu, as shown in Figure 5-28. A message appears that says: "Warning! All instances will be deleted." Click OK, and the component disappears from the Components window, and all the instances of the component in your model disappear, too. If that's what you wanted—great. If not, you can undo the deletion with Ctrl+Z (⌘-Z), and everything is back to the way it was.
