Copying and Placing Components
There's no big mystery when it comes to copying and pasting components. The process is similar to that in most other programs, including your word processor. Select the component you want to copy. You can perform the Copy command in a couple of ways:
Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+C (Windows); ⌘-C (Mac)
Edit → Copy
By copying the window component, you place it on your computer Clipboard. Then you can paste the copy into your model in a similar fashion:
Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+V (Windows); ⌘-V (Mac)
Edit → Paste
There's another method that you used in some of the earlier examples. You can use the Move (M) tool in copy mode: toggle key Ctrl (Windows) or Option (Mac).
Tip
You may expect to see the Copy, Paste, and Cut commands on the shortcut menu that you bring up with a right-click, but that's not the case in SketchUp. If you're looking for "cut and paste" speed, the keyboard shortcuts are your best bet.
With the Select (space bar) tool, click the window component and press Ctrl+C (⌘-C).
SketchUp places a copy of the window component on the Clipboard.
Press Ctrl+V (⌘-V).
A copy of the window component is attached to the cursor.
Move the cursor to different faces on the house model.
The window snaps to any face in the model, even the sloped face of the roof.
Click to place the window next to the first window you created.
The copy of the window component is glued to the wall next to the original.
