COMPETING AGAINST OR WORKING WITH DIGITAL PLATFORMS
During the last decade, one of the most important disruptions in digital competition has been the emergence of dominant market positions by multisided platform players. Some, like Airbnb in hospitality or Uber in transportation, have focused on specific industries. Others, like Google or Amazon, have disrupted (or have the potential to disrupt) multiple industries. Fewer and fewer industries are untouched by platform players. So for any company mapping its digital strategy and transformation, platform economics are now impossible to ignore.
