About This Book
This book has evolved from the author’s 30 years of work experience at General
Electric, Lockheed Martin, and Westinghouse Electric, and 15 years of teaching
electrical power at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. The
book has 17 chapters, divided into two parts:
• Part A: Power Generation, Distribution, and Utilization
• Part B: Power Electronics and Motor Drives
Part A of the book focuses on all aspects of electrical power that most power engi-
