Power Cable
The term wire generally means one or more insulated conductors in small size (solid
or stranded for exibility), whereas cable means one or more insulated conductors
of large size grouped in a common insulation jacket, often with a ground shield.
Figure 6.1 shows a single-conductor, 2-kV class cable, whereas Figure 6.2 is a three-
conductor, three-phase cable suitable for 5- to 15-kV applications.
