The Six Thinking Hats is a method developed by Edward de Bono.15 It is highly effective as a discipline for holding discussions, running meetings and making decisions. It involves some lateral thinking as it deliberately displaces you from your usual thinking approach. However, it is more accurately described as a parallel thinking technique because it encourages all members of a group to think in the same style at the same time.
