When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Experiment, experiment, experiment
There is no point in being a lateral thinker if all your great ideas remain as abstract concepts. If you want to change the world, then you need to turn some of them into action.
Think of a big organization; maybe you work for one. What would the response be if I asked the leader of this organization this question: ‘Would you like your people to try out their ideas for better ways to meet the needs of customers?’
Most leaders would respond in the affirmative – perhaps with a guarded ‘Within reason’. They would like to see people trying to find new and better ways to do things on their own initiative. They know that if you want a truly innovative organization then you have to release and empower your people ...
