New Features in VMM 2008 R2
Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 introduced a number of new features, most of which added support for the new features in Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V. Some additional features were added. Knowing about what they do and how they work will make your job easier.
Maintenance Mode
This new feature is an action that can be performed on a host machine when you are planning to do some maintenance work on it such as rebooting, patching, or repairing. Enabling maintenance mode on a server will have the following effects:
Intelligent Placement You would not want Intelligent Placement to automatically place a virtual machine onto a host that was having some work being done on it.
