Forget Hollywood movies with the latest starlet clicking strange icons on a website; the easiest way to steal your data is to steal your servers or disks. It could be argued that hardware virtualization host servers (such as Hyper-V) require even greater security than normal physical servers because the virtual machines that are stored on them are usually just files. Files can be easily copied by an attacker if they gain physical access to the servers.

The first defense against a physical attack is traditional physical security. The servers and storage should be stored in a physically secure room. Access to this room should be restricted, controlled, and monitored.
