When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Storage array
The storage market has slightly changed in recent years, moving from appliance solutions (mainly based on hardware features) to software-defined solutions (some software only; others are still based on appliances).
More importantly, flash technologies have changed the storage array's components and now almost all solutions include flash devices inside each product, with two main type of arrays:
- AFA: This is where only flash memories are used, maybe with different types of flash devices
- Hybrid array: This is where both flash and HDD are used
Moving to a software-defined approach and the use of flash has made it possible to implement (in an effective way) a lot of new storage functions, such as tiering, compression, deduplication, ...
