Video Recording, Servers, and Storage
Introduction
Video servers are just the tip of what has become a huge shift in infrastructure. Video server technologies, which have essentially replaced traditional magnetic recording on videotape, now encompass not just recording and playout, but also the processes associated with file-based and streaming workflows, which include image capture and field recording, image processing, live video encoding, storage of the assets, networking for signal transport and storage, distribution to myriad end points and lastly the archiving of the content for preservation and protection purposes.
